Brian Niles is a film director and writer, currently studying at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) in the Cinematic Arts department. He has worked on more than 70 student projects in positions ranging from the technical to the creative, winning the school's top directing honor two years in a row and seeing his productions accepted into competitive film festivals across the United States.
Prior to his work in film, Brian spent his early childhood exploring music through playing piano and singing, including performances at the Hollywood Bowl and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, as a member of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus. His musical background has helped him develop a sense of timing and pace for his films while also giving him a unique ear for a film’s sonic identity, including score and sound design.
At LACHSA, in addition to directing, he has helped his peers in a wide variety of roles - including everything from PA, AC, sound mixer, colorist, VFX artist, and editor, to DP and camera operator, shooting projects on RED, Blackmagic, and 16mm film cameras. Brian always works to absorb as much information as possible to allow for the seamless expression of one key component - Story.
