Brian is a film director and cinematographer. Growing up in a musical household, Brian’s parents were sure he would become a musician. And while he spent most of his early childhood playing piano and singing, he took interest in film as he made a regular hobby of stealing his dad’s Flip camera to make movies with his Legos. Today, while his vocal cords and piano-playing don’t quite hold up, his musical background has helped him develop a sense of timing and pace which is deeply embedded in his work.
As a graduate from the Cinematic Arts department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), Brian has worked on more than 70 student projects in positions ranging from the technical to the creative, winning the school's top directing honor two years in a row and seeing his productions accepted into competitive film festivals across the United States. Recently, Brian has been named a 2018 National YoungArts Finalist for Cinematic Arts and a Presidential Scholar in the Arts Semifinalist. At LACHSA, in addition to directing, he has helped his peers in a wide variety of roles - including everything from PA, AC, sound mixer, colorist, VFX artist, and editor, to DP and camera operator, shooting projects on RED, Blackmagic, and 16mm film. Brian always works to absorb as much information as possible to allow for the seamless expression of one key component - story.
Brian believes that the most introspective moments come from looking out to that which you find least familiar, as it can shape what you truly value in yourself. For this reason, he is drawn to art which blends fantasy and surrealism to reveal deeply rooted emotional cores.
